With our skilled machinists and state-of-the-art facilities, we can produce a wide range of components and assemblies for virtually any industry. We work with numerous materials, including aluminum, brass, bronze, carbon & alloy steels, stainless steels, and machinable plastics. Examples of our CNC-turned parts include:
- Specialty valve components
- Lead-Free plumbing components
- Motion control device components
- Manifolds
- Power transmission and switching components
- Machined castings and forgings
- Clean diesel components
We pride ourselves on our ability to develop and implement customized solutions that help our customers overcome specific manufacturing challenges. Below are some examples of our previous work.
- After unsatisfactory results from their previous manufacturer, a customer in the valve industry approached Hogge about machining an aluminum safety coupling. Employing our precision CNC turning and milling capabilities, we manufactured a safety coupling that met the customer’s strict tolerance requirements and quality standards. Pleased with the outcome, the customer now purchases 5,000 units of the product per month.
- For a customer in the power transmission and switching industry, we used a multitask CNC machine to complete the machining of a precision copper resistor contact in a single operation. After extensive testing and thorough inspections, 500 units of the product were delivered to the highly satisfied customer.
- Here, we used a multi-task CNC machine to produce a carbon steel transducer head for a customer in the electrical industry. The customer was happy with the result and now purchases 200 transducer heads per month.

CNC Milling
CNC milling is a computer-controlled machining process that uses rotating cutting tools to selectively remove unwanted material from a workpiece until the desired shape is achieved. The cutting tools are able to move along various axes with high levels of accuracy to achieve complicated shapes and intricate geometries. At Hogge Precision, we use horizontal and vertical machining centers to produce a range of custom-designed components with varying levels of complexity. Our milling technologies include:
- Machining centers with up to 4 axes
- A selection of up to 120 machining tools
- Tables as large as 44″ and pallets of up to 500 mm
- Machining centers capable of reaching speeds of up to 15,000 RPM
From simple, short manufacturing runs to complex, high-volume production, we have the expertise to meet your specific needs. Our machining centers are capable of handling parts of up to 14″ in diameter, 24″ in length, 16″ in width, and 8″ in height, meeting tolerances within +/-0.0005″. To learn more about our specific milling capabilities, visit our CNC milling page.
CNC Turning
With CNC turning, a computer-controlled turning machine moves a cutting tool linearly across a rotating workpiece to selectively remove material. CNC lathes are used to generate cylindrical- or oblong-shaped components. At Hogge Precision, our precision CNC turning services include everything from simple 2- and 3-axis machines for short runs to 8-axis bar-fed turning centers for more complex, larger-volume runs. To maximize productivity levels, we also perform fully-automated, lights-out production runs.
Our CNC turning centers are capable of processing bar stock of up to 3″ in diameter and slugs of up to 10″ in diameter, and final parts can be produced within tolerances of +/-0.0005”. To learn more about our CNC turning capabilities, please visit our CNC turning page.
Swiss Machining
CNC Swiss machining employs a computer-operated rotating lathe to spin the workpiece as cutting tools precisely remove materials until the desired shape is achieved. With this specialized type of machining, a guide bushing is used to hold the workpiece firmly in place as the force of the tool is exerted on it. This added stability allows for greater levels of precision in the final part.
At Hogge Precision, we are equipped with several Swiss-style turning machines for manufacturing high-precision, small-diameter components within tolerances of +/-0.0005″. These machines are capable of running lights-out with bar stock as large as 1-1/4″ in diameter and 12′ long. Screw Machining
Screw machines are automatic lathes that use changeable cutting tools to precisely shape the rotating workpiece. At Hogge Precision, we are one of the few remaining precision-machining providers in the Southeast with single- and multi-spindle CAM-operated screw machines. The single-spindle machines can accommodate bar stock with diameters of up to 1-5/8″, while the multi-spindle machines can handle diameters up to 2-1/4″. We can produce parts with lengths ranging from 0.080″ to 4″, meeting tolerances as tight as +/- 0.001″.
Our screw machines are best suited for mid- to high-volume applications and are capable of machining materials such as aluminum, brass, lead-free brass, bronze, copper, and low-leaded steels. Common screw-machined parts include:
- Valve components
- Instrument components
- Electrical components
- Custom fittings
- Lead-free brass items

Value-Added Services
In addition to our extensive machining capabilities, Hogge Precision offers a range of value-added services aimed at helping our customers reduce costs and achieve maximum levels of productivity. For example, we work with customers to lessen the burden of inventory management through the implementation of Kanban inventory management practices. The Kanban system helps companies manage their inventories by minimizing the amount of product kept on hand and automating product restocking based on current demand levels.
To maximize efficiency and minimize operating costs, we also utilize machine tending robots that load or unload materials during the CNC machining process. By relieving workers from these physically demanding and repetitive tasks, we can achieve substantially longer production capacities and higher levels of consistency and accuracy. In addition to basic material handling, machine tending robots offer complex manipulation and transportation capabilities. For our customers, this increased automation translates to improved production levels, enhanced product accuracy and quality, and reduced manufacturing costs.
